Customer FAQ

🪵 General Wood Questions

  • What is a “Cord” of firewood?

    • Answer: Per Connecticut law, a standard cord is a pile of wood measuring 4ft high x 4ft wide x 8ft long ($128$ cubic feet) when tightly stacked. Our dealers are required to sell by these standard measurements. A 1/2 cord is measured 4ft high x 4ft wide x 4ft long.

  • What is the difference between Seasoned and Green wood?

    • Answer: Seasoned wood has been dried for at least 6–12 months and is ready to burn immediately. Green wood has a high moisture content and needs time to dry before it is usable.

  • Do you sell kiln-dried firewood?

    • Answer: Our local dealers may offer kiln-dried options, which are heat-treated to kill pests and ensure the lowest possible moisture content.

🚚 Delivery & Logistics

  • How does delivery work?

    • Answer: Once you place an order, the specific dealer you selected will contact you directly to coordinate a delivery time. You are dealing directly with local Connecticut wood professionals.

  • Can the driver stack the wood for me?

    • Answer: Wood is available to be stacked or dumped. Availability of stacking will be dependent on the dealers in your area.

  • Will the truck fit in my driveway?

    • Answer: Firewood trucks are heavy. If you have a narrow or steep driveway, or low-hanging wires, please specify this in the “Order Notes” during checkout so the dealer can bring the appropriate equipment.

  • Can I pay in cash upon delivery?

🛡️ Trust & Safety

  • Are your dealers insured?

    • Answer: Yes, we require all participating dealers to maintain valid insurance and professional licenses to operate within the state of Connecticut.

  • What if the wood is poor quality?

    • Answer: We take quality seriously. If the wood delivered does not meet the description (e.g., it was sold as seasoned but is too wet to burn), please contact us immediately at support@ctfirewooddelivery.com
